Shirahige-jinja Shrine enshrines Shiotsuchi-no Oji, an elder god with a white beard who warns about flooding. The sideroads running north-south through Nirasaki-juku lead to Shirahige-jinja Shrine, where the name Suijin (the god of water) remains as a place name. This shrine tells us that floods had a major impact on Nirasaki-juku.
It is also said that the cave at the shrine was connected to the Anayama Area, which was two stations away from Nirasaki-juku. Because of this, the shrine was also called the Cave Shrine (Ana Myojin).
