A Guardian Deity of Children Wearing a Hat at Kurono-shuku along the old Koshu-kaido Road (Koshu Kaido Kuronota Shuku Kasakage Jizo)

This guardian deity of children (Jizo Deity) is located near the former site of the main lodging (honjin) in Kuronoda-shuku. It is thought to have been placed in 1855 in the hopes of bringing solace to residents in Kurono-shuku who suffered from pain and hardships caused by severe famines during the Temmei and Tempo Eras. The immovable features looks like it is protecting people going back and forth on the old Koshu-kaido Road.
