It is dedicated to Konohana Sakuyahime, goddess of Mount Fuji, and her husband Amatsuhiko Hikohononinigi no Mikoto, and is affectionately called “Wademiya-san” or “Umetani-jinja Shrine” by local residents. A step inside the Torii gate on the left side of the approach, a spring water pond bubbles with clear water. It is said to be where Kutai Shonin, restorer of the Mount Mitsutoge Buddhist faith, performed cold water ablutions, so many ascetics who aspired to climb Mount Fuji also followed suit.
