Kanadorii Gate was erected in 1788 in worship of Mount Fuji. More Torii gates stand strategically between this Torii and the summit of Mount Fuji, but because Kanadorii Gate is the very first gate, it is also called “Ichino Torii” (literally, “First Torii”).
