Lake Asumiko spreads over a area of 13,640m2 in Asumi, Fujiyoshida City. It is also called “lotus pond,” because some 20,000 clusters of lotus flowers grow in the lake and attract crowds of visitors when they bloom in August. The lake was previously considered one of the Fuji Hakko (Eight Lakes of Fuji). Fuji Hakko were places of worship of the Mount Fuji faith.
The area around the lake was developed into Lake Asumiko Park in 2007, providing local residents a place of relaxation and refreshment where they can enjoy nature observations and participate in hands-on nature experience workshops.
