Jokoji-jo Castle(Nakamaki-jo Castle) was repaired and restored by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1589. The site, spreading 327 meters east to west and 436 meters north to south, displays vestiges unique to castle ruins, such as the remains of an earthen embankment and moat.
The ruins lie midway down the slopes of an alluvial fan that descends gently toward Kofu Basin, and offer a commanding view. On the southeastern side of the ruins in a small park that is home to Yahata-jinja Shrine, there is a signboard indicating the site of Nakamaki-jo Castle (Jokoji-jo Castle) Ruins. To the south of this park spreads a vineyard against a spectacular backdrop of the vast Kofu Basin and Mount Fuji.
