Shiraito Falls are near the entrance of the front approach to Shichimenzan (Mount Shichimen) Keishin-in Temple. It is said that Oman-no-kata, a concubine of Tokugawa Ieyasu, stood under the waterfalls to purify herself before visiting Mount Shichimen, which was closed to women. At that time, people believed that a women’s presence would desecrate sacred places; however, because no extraordinary natural disaster occurred even after her visit, Mount Shichimen was opened to women, and more worshippers visited. There is a bronze statue of Oman-no-kata near the waterfalls, and Shiraito Falls are also known as Oman-sama-no Falls.
