It is said that the large Japanese horse chestnut tree in the garden at Anju-bo at 19-chome on the north approach to Shichimenzan (Mount Shichimen) Keishin-in Temple was planted by Nichiro Shonin, one of Nichiren’s six disciples who were asked to be at his deathbed. It is 8.1 m in circumference at the roots and its trunk measures 6.8 m in circumference. Standing about 25 m tall, its branches stretching confidently in all directions give it a divine atmosphere. It is designated a Yamanashi Prefecture natural monument.
