This building was used as an administrative office that helped manage the post station (toiyaba/ tonyaba) in Kamitorisawa-shuku. It was built in 1868 and registered as a national tangible cultural property in 2017.
Standing on the old Koshu-kaido Road, this large townhouse is representative of Kamitorisawa-shuku and retains the atmosphere and features of the time when this was a post station. It has a two-story wooden structure with a gable roof. The second floor was extended for sericulture.
