Opened next to Saruhashi Park in 1991, this museum invites visitors to enjoy learning about the history of Otsuki City from the ancient past to modern times. Artifacts from when present-day Otsuki was still ocean as well as from the Jomon Period (ca. 14,000 – 300 BCE), and the Warring States Period (1467-1603) are on display.
The second floor of the museum shows the history of the old Koshu-kaido Road in the Edo Period and features a model of a post station in Otsuki during the end of the Edo Period and the beginning of the Meiji Period with detailed reproductions of the Saruhashi Bridge and lodgings.
There are also displays that show the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the Meiji Period (1868-1912) and conditions after the opening of the railway.
