Shirano-shuku was the next station after Nakahatsukari-shuku when traveling from Edo, and opened by turns (known as aishuku) every month with Amida-Kaido-shuku and Kuronoda-shuku, which were located to the west. Shirano-shuku opened from the 23rd to 30th of the month. It was a small post station with one main lodging (honjin), one sub lodging (waki-honjin), and 4 inns (hatago).
Beyond Takigo River and heading to a narrow street to the north, there is an ichiri-zuka, or milestone. Going forward and turning onto the right fork of the road to the west, there is a post town called Shirano-shuku. It has a calm and quiet townscape that makes travelers feel relaxed.
