Takeda Katsuyori was the fourth son of Takeda Shingen, a military general in the Warring States Period (1467-1603) and became the lord of the Takeda Clan after Shingen died in 1573. In 1575, two years later, Katsuyori attacked Nagashino Castle in Mikawa; however, they were completely defeated by the allied forces of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu, and gradually lost momentum.
In 1582, Oda’s Army began attacking the Kai Region, Katsuyori paid attention to the movements of the enemy while sitting on the stone. Later, Katsuyori killed himself with his family at Mount Temmoku in Yamato Town, Kofu City. This marked the end of the Takeda Clan.
