From atop Fujimibashi Bridge in Onuma, Nishikatsura-cho Town, a majestic view of Mount Fuji can be seen across Katsuragawa (Katsura River), a river fed by spring water from Mount Fuji. To members of Mount Fuji pilgrimage associations called Fujiko, around here, in provided their first glimpse of Mount Fuji in its entirety with its iconic symmetrical slopes, as they made their pilgrimage to Mount Fuji from Edo. An old road that ran through Onuma used to be called “lodging road (Shuku-dori),” because numerous lodgings (Shuku) for Fujiko members used to line the road.
