Mount Mitsutoge rises 1785 meters above sea level on the borders of Tsuru City, Nishikatsura Town, and Fuji Kawaguchiko Town.

In 1832, Kutai Shonin entered the mountain, rebuilt the main shrine and spiritual purification hall, cut open an approach, and restored the Mount Mitsutoge Buddhist faith.
