Teramachi Street is an old road stretching along the mountain side of National Route 139 near Tsuru-shi Station. It retains the erstwhile appearance of a castle town and is lined with temples such as the Jodo sect Sairyo-ji Temple, Jodo Shinshu sect Sennen-ji Temple, and Nichiren sect Tozen-ji Temple.
A climb to the top of the hills behind Tozen-ji and Sennen-ji offers a full sight of Mount Fuji and a commanding view of Tsuru City. From this perspective, it is clear that Mount Fuji was pivotal to the development of Yamura Town.
A shrine called Gishu Inari Shrine stands in the precincts of Sairyo-ji, having miraculously survived a large fire that ravaged Yamura Town in 1949. In tribute to this, a prayer festival to ward off evil spirits is held every year on May 13 by the Gishu Society.
