Genki-kun No. 1 – 3 are small hydropower plants built over Kachugawa River. The electric power they generate is mainly used to supply electricity to Tsuru City Hall.
Genki-kun No. 1 is a wooden undershot water wheel located in the parking lot of Tsuru City Hall, Genki-kun No. 2 is an overshot water wheel located near Takao-jinja Shrine, and Genki-kun No. 3 is a blue spiral water wheel located next to Yamura Daiichi Primary School. They are environment-friendly power plants that use the abundant water flowing through the city.
Kachugawa River was built as an irrigation channel by Akimoto Yasutomo, who ruled the region during the early-Edo Period (1603–1867). Completed in 1639, it not only provided potable water and irrigation water, but it was also largely instrumental in the development of the local textile industry.
