Yasuda Inarisha Shrine enshrines Yasuda Yoshisada, a member of the Kai Genji Clan who actively spread his influence from this region, in the form of a deity named Yasuda Inari Daimyojin. The grounds of the shrine are home to a round-stone Dosojin image and a vestige of the flow path of Ijiri-segi Water Channel. The shrine is situated at the edge of a terrace, with the west side of the precincts aligned with a cliff that looks down to Fuefuki River.
Yasudago in Yahatasho, today’s Yamanashi City, was the place of origin of the Yasuda Clan to which Yasuda Yoshisada belonged. It is said that Yoshisada made Odano-jo Castle his mountain castle and ruled today’s Kyoto region divided in two between the Yasuda and Takeda Clans. He distinguished himself by joining up with Minamoto Yoritomo in the Battle of Fujikawa in 1180 and participating in attacking the Taira Clan together with Minamoto Yoshitsune in the Genpei Battle. However, in 1194, when he fell under the suspicion of Yoritomo on account of a false charge and was driven out of Kamakura, he is said to have thrown his armor into Fuefuki River and committed suicide.
