Takedahiro-jinja Shrine

Suwa-jinja Shrine was originally founded in the late Yayoi Period (ca. 300 BCE–250) as Hirono-jinja Shrine, enshrining Takeda no Kimi. Takeda no Kimi is said to be Yamatotakeru no Mikoto’s son who ruled over Kai Province.
In 1542 during the reign of Emperor Gonara, it came to be called Suwa-jinja Shrine after Takeda Shingen summoned and enshrined the deity Shinano no Kuni Suwa Daimyojin.
Suwa Jinja is located in Takeda, Kamiyama-machi Town, Nirasaki City. The area is also home to the site of the residence of Takeda Nobuyoshi, founder of the Kai Takeda Clan, and is said to be the birthplace of the Takeda Clan.
