Since the Buddha Hall was first built in 1708, it was rebuilt several times after being destroyed by fire, earthquake and other natural disasters. The current building was built in 1931 to commemorate the 650th anniversary of Nichiren’s death. The two Nohai-do Hall (halls storing Buddhist memorial tablets) stand to the right and left of the rear of the Buddha Hall. Here, cremated remains and memorial tablets placed by followers of Nichiren from around the nation are enshrined.
